The Department of Labour, Ladakh, on August 03, 2026, notified the Code on Wages (Ladakh) Rules, 2026.
The following has been stated: -
•Extends these rules across the entire Union Territory of Ladakh, replacing previous J&K wage rules.
•Establishes a standard 8-hour workday and calculates daily minimum wages based on a 2,700-calorie daily intake per unit for a standard family of three consumption units.
•Divides areas into municipal and rural zones while constituting a Technical Committee to categorize jobs into unskilled, semi-skilled, skilled, and highly skilled roles.
•Fixes normal daily working hours at eight with a maximum 12-hour spread-over, guaranteeing one paid rest day per week.
•Sets monthly wage periods for agricultural labor, strictly capping authorized wage deductions and advance recoveries at 50% per wage period.
They shall come into force on August 10, 2026.
